Several years ago i attended a prayer retreat and the nun who presented the day of recollection threw out a thought: GOD put you where you are right now. When it comes to stuff like this i'm a slow study. OK i think, yeah that makes sense, God gave us life; he can take it away-so why not the other? Then she went on to say then next time you're sitting in traffic tell yourself this is what God wants for me right now. The other night we had dinner with the best priest i've ever had the pleasure of knowing and we got onto the issue of misfortunes, disasters BAD THINGS, and being the deep(not) person that i am i asked why?
His answer wasn't comforting but it was extremely thought provoking. When you are faced with hard times God pushes you to be your best. But then i had to contemplate am I really at my best when things are bad for myself or others OR do i turn into a core of misery, despair and complaints. MDC (misery depair complaining) that's what makes toxic people, and there's no place in my life for toxicity. A good friend of mine is going thru a hard time BUT she called me this morning and said, "I read your Facebook page and i thought you might need to get breakfast out this morning. Never did she wail about her trials and tribulations, she realized i was in a funk and tried to pull ME out. I guess that's what makes her a good friend. So the next time you're in a traffic jam, or your boss gives you a hard time or your do has to poop at 7am on a Saturday morning tell yourself this is what God wants for me right now and then ask am i rising to this occasion? GUESS WHAT? IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!
